SPARK Partners meet in Leeuwarden to Advance Innovative Financial Education
On 25 September 2026, the SPARK consortium gathered in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, for its second Transnational Project Meeting, hosted by Business Development Friesland. The meeting marked an important step forward in developing innovative educational resources that combine STEAM education, financial literacy and essential life skills for young learners.
Turning financial literacy into real-world learning
The Erasmus+ project SPARK – STEAM and Personal Finance for Real-World Knowledge aims to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to navigate everyday financial decisions through engaging, practical and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
By integrating financial education with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and European competence frameworks, SPARK seeks to make learning more relevant to students’ daily lives while encouraging critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and responsible decision-making.
The meeting in Leeuwarden brought together project partners to review progress, exchange expertise and coordinate the next stages of implementation.
During the meeting, partners worked collaboratively on the development of the project’s six educational modules, covering Financial Literacy, GreenComp, EntreComp, LifeComp, DigComp and the SPARK Challenge. Discussions focused on refining learning materials, exploring the Moodle learning platform and preparing interactive educational resources, including digital activities and an escape room.
CRES actively contributed to the meeting, particularly through its work on quality assurance and evaluation, as well as the development of the LifeComp module, which explores how personal and social competences influence everyday financial decisions.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review project progress and plan the next steps, including module finalisation, peer review, translations, platform integration and upcoming piloting activities.
The productive exchanges reinforced the consortium’s shared commitment to making financial education more accessible, engaging and relevant to young learners.
